To achieve the best results, simply follow a few basic guidelines. SYNPA can be folded, cut, bound, and hot foil stamped.
CUTTING
Ensure that the printed surface is completely dry before cutting and that blades are sharp. The material is compressible; therefore, apply moderate pressure on the press.DIE-CUTTING
Rounded shapes are recommended, while sharp corners should be avoided as they may weaken the material.PERFORATING, PUNCHING, AND EDGING
Cutting precision is essential for tear resistance. During perforation, avoid overheating, which may cause sheets to fuse together.OFFSET AND LITHOGRAPHIC PRINTING
Remove the material from its protective packaging only immediately before printing. Keep the sheets flat at all times to avoid folds and creases. The ideal relative humidity in the printing environment is around 50–60%. At lower humidity levels, static electricity may occur.To prevent set-off, integrated color removal systems (ICR) or grey component replacement (GCR) can be used during color separation, reducing ink consumption. In sheet feeding, air blast should be at least 10% stronger than standard settings.
DAMPENING SOLUTION
Dampening should be kept to a minimum to allow fast drying, due to the lower absorbency compared to conventional paper. Excess water on the plate may dilute ink concentration and extend drying times. The pH should be maintained around 5–6 and the solution temperature at approximately 15°C. It is recommended to reduce additives by 50% and avoid lubricating additives or alcohol-substitute additives, as they slow down drying. For alcohol-based dampening systems, 10% isopropyl alcohol is suggested.SCREEN PRINTING
SYNPA is ideal for UV-treated applications. All common screen printing inks can be used, although vinyl inks may not dry properly. Care must be taken with drying temperatures, as excessive heat may cause sheet deformation.
